We are trying to plan a wedding in Portland, Maine on a $5,000 budget. So far, this has proved a major challenge and I thought sharing what I have learned with others might save some legwork.
Oh, did I mention that we are trying to pull all of this together by October 6th?! And that we have a guest list of around 170?! And that I'm finishing up my Master's Degree, work full time, have an internship, tutor, and coach?!
In my next few posts, I'll give a background of what I've done over the last month to catch you all up.
totally possible! i am actually in a very similar situation myself. i got engaged in december and for awhile we were also planning to get married on october 6! we have since moved the date up to july 7! you've got plenty of time! i saw you got onto pinterest which is awesome, they have tons of great ideas. the most important thing to remember (which i keep reminding myself) is to enjoy the planning process and have fun with it and don't let the stress get to you! so happy for you guys! :)

Have you gotten your dress yet?! There is a new bridal boutique in Portland (On the corner of Brackett and York) called Fancy That! They carry consignment gowns.... AN AWESOME way to save on the budget! You only wear it once! When I went I found out there were even some that were never worn and were selling for half the price! They also have gifts/decorations on the cheap too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie! I had no idea that had opened even thought I walk by there all the time to take my puppy to the park! I plan to check it out this week...definitely sounds blog-worthy!
ReplyDelete$5k budget for my fiance and I and we're planning on September 28, 2014. I am completely lost and stressed out planning this myself and have NO idea where to go from here.
ReplyDeleteI wanted a nice rustic barn wedding, but for some crazy reason the prices to rent out a barn are out of control!
HELP!!!?
Cassandra, I think one of the problems is that a lot of people want rustic barn weddings and therefore they are more expensive than they used to be. Planning your wedding in the off-season may be the best bet to keep your wedding inexpensive.
ReplyDeleteOther options could be to find an old house you could rent for a week and use the yard with a tent. My friend did this about 8 years ago on the coast. In fact, they rented the house for two weeks so they could honeymoon there afterwards!
